Curling in America has been popular for well over 100 years but the recent promotion of the sport during the Olympics has really bolstered growth across the country. Clubs are growing, and new ones are starting.
A handful of well established pro shops and stand alone stores exist and a few new ones have come on line in recent years. However, until now, there has not been a company in the U.S. that produces curling brooms; almost all brooms come from Canada. These Canadian companies have a large national market and are able to produce high quality products for their customers, but the problem for curlers in the U.S. is that shipping equipment across the border is inherently expensive. Even American shops who buy in bulk must pay import fees which invariably get passed on to the customer.
Because of this inescapable fact, the founders of HOGLINE brooms set out to produce their own brooms or acquire brooms directly from the manufacturer. This has made the formerly difficult goal – affordable yet high performance curling brooms – a reality to U.S. curlers.
It is not the intent of HOGLINE to become a full service curling store, that should be left to those already pursuing that avenue. HOGLINE products are for sale through our shop, but users are encouraged to patronize local retailers where possible. If your closest supplier doesn’t yet offer HOGLINE brooms, let us know and chances are that they will soon.
